Volunteer Job Descriptions

There are several volunteer opportunities available at Cancer Support Community. Whether you want to volunteer once a week or once a year, we have a place for you! Volunteers can chose the project they find most interesting or we can recommend an area of particular need.

Front Desk Volunteers

Volunteers greet people with cancer and their loved ones when they come to Cancer Support Community. In addition, answering the phones, making program phone calls, and other office projects may be involved.

Ambassadors

Four times per year, we publish and distribute our newsletter/program calendar so that cancer patients and the medical community are updated on our activities. Ambassadors help us save money on postage and increase awareness by personally delivering newsletters to medical facilities in the metropolitan area.

Health Fair Volunteers

Throughout the year, Cancer Support Community sets up information booths at various health fairs and community educational fairs across the metropolitan area. Health Fairs are scheduled both during the week and on weekends, usually during the day. Volunteers pass out literature and talk about the services at Cancer Support Community. Volunteers are included on a list and are called when needed. This is the perfect opportunity for people who can't commit to a regular volunteer schedule.

Special Event Volunteers

Cancer Support Community conducts several special events during the year. Most of these are fund raising events but we occasionally have events for our participants. There are a variety of ways to volunteer for special events from being on a planning committee to helping out the day of the event. Special events provide the opportunity to volunteer for a limited amount of time (once a year on event day) or get more involved in our organization by serving on a committee. We will work with you to determine how much time you have and your area of interest!

Other Volunteers

Do you have a special talent? Photography, videography, writing, public speaking, graphic design, certified to teach a movement class, have extensive knowledge on a particular subject and would like to donate your time to deliver a workshop? We would love your ideas. This is subject to approval by the Program Director and the Executive Director.
